SERIOUS ACCIDENT AT TBE HAMILTON PUNT•
Last Night at 12 o'clock, Mr Moon and party—consisting of Mr J. Daltcn, surveyor, Mr Stobbing, and a Maori the Hamilton Hotel in a two-horse buggy for the Piako. The remainder ot the party elected to walk down to the punt, and Mr Moon himself drove the horses. On arriving at the stage on the west side the river, Mr Moon, thinking the punt was waiting there, drove straight on and finding his mistake, applied the break, bat without effect, for horses, trap and driver drove into the river. The horses and trap were swept away, but Mr Moon, fortunately, swam ashore. A search will be made this morning, when, probably, the trap may be recovered. The horses belonged to Mr Moon, and were worth some £BO or £9O. The ijtrap was the property of Mr Carter.
