Mr Cholmondeley Smith recovered £IOO from the Board of Education, for wrongful dismissal from Lucas' .Creek School the matter not having been referred to the School Committee. WELLINGTON, Saturday. The rumour that Mr R. J, Creighton is coming out to edit one of the Ministerial journals, is authoritatively denied. HOKITIKA, Friday. Butchers' meat is very scarce all along the coast. At the last sale of cattle by auction, the wholesale prices realised 7h to Bcl per lb. At the next sale there is expected to be greater competition, as butchers have nearly all short supply. NAPIER, Friday. Mr M. R. Millar, reports the sale of a half-interest in Mr C. H. Stuart's leasehold estate, Tutira, 22,000 acres, with 900 sheep, 100 cattle and hoi'ses, &c, for J27750, to Mi« T. C. Kierdn, of Victoria; and, a,lao, the sale of Bennett and Collison's Estmont Estate, Petanedistrict, containing 7100 acres, freehold, partly stocked, 3500 ewes, all plant, for £19,750, to Mr George Spencer, of Petane. NEW PLYMOUTH, last night. The Hon. Mr Sheehan went, yesterday,-to Waitara, where Rewi came from Waihi to meet him. Rewi gave Mr Sheehan a very warm reception, shaking his hand over and over again. Rewi came into i New Plymouth to-day, to see Mr Sheehan. A deputation waited on Mr Sheehan, and urged holding the sale of the Waimate Plains at New Plymouth. Mr Sheehan said, he would communicate their request to the Government, but the sale might be held in Wellington. OAMARU, last night. Mr Sutton's prize two tooth ram, which won first prize at the Show, sold for one hundred guine.is. It goes to Victoria.
