THE NEW WELTER WEIGHT.

horse is 10st 41b, the same as was run afc Ohaupo last February meeting. Now, a weight is insued that was never before known, to racing men. I believe the Cambridge Troop, as a whole, would have refused to subscribe to the race, if they had any idea what weights were being made. No wonder at it, for the Waikato Club has left itself open to a great deal of censure, for what is the use of having rules to run under, if they are not kept to, instead of making of weights to suit one party, as this wffl. do, for I am sure, had the voice of the troopers been taken, they would never have adopted the ridicilous Welter Weight made by our Club. In fact, by running under Victorian rules, the Club is bound to keep to Victorian weights, or else, I am afraid, if our Club can alter weights whenever thoy think fit, the entries and subscriptions, in future, will be greatly on the decrease.
