The following are the traffic returns on the New Zealand railways for the four ■weeks ending the 21st September : —
UhristchurchDunedin ..30,183 11 7 21,633 4 6 Invercargill .. 3,547 14 11 2,343 4 7 On the above date there were 1077 miles open for traffic, and the average per-centoge of expenditure to receipts was 78-85 The extremes ranged from 10400 at Westporfc, to 5;5- ( J7 at Greymouth.
