Prices were lower than at the first fair for coarse and lowk conditioned cattlo, of which there were many penned, but well-bred cattle, in good condition, fairly mainttfiusd previous values. At Remuera, to-day (Thursday), dairy oattle were in fair enquiry, and ranged from £7 to £lO. Store cattle were in limited numbers, but good demand, and were slightly higher in price than on Monday last.. Fat cattle were in full number, but many wero of indifferent quality, and prices varied considerably. Last week's quotations—from 28s to 37s (id the lOOlbs—were sustained, and many of the inferior animals wore bought by the grazier.- No store sheep were ollered. Fat sheep were in moderate supply and steady demand. Wethers, in their wool, wero at «Jd per lb; shorn sheep, 2£d per lb. Fat lambs wore abundant; best quality, from 10s to 13s; inferior, from 5s each; the market fell 2s 6d as the sale proceeded. Pigs of all kinds were represented in limited numbers, and all sold freely. Averages were.:—B steers, Jos. Scott, £l2 10s; 0 steers, David Robertson, £ll 8s Gd; 0 steersj James Robertson, £10; 8 head, mixed sexes, A. Stewart, £1 12s 6:1; 8 cows, Robert Hall, £0 2s ; 10 head, John Scott, £0 10«; 7 head cows and steers, S. Steele, £6 18s Gd; 11 head, Hugh Knox, £8 us; 186 wethers, in their wool, ex « Pretty Jane,' 245; 108 wethers, in their wool, ex 'Argyle,' 20s; shorn wethers brought from lis to 175—200 averaging 13s. JIE93ES HUHTBR AND NOLAN S WBEKLT BEPOBT. . There has been continued activity in the horse market. A good many animals have changed hands, and, on the whole, prices have ruled in favor of the vendor. The number brought under the hammer at the Durham Yards on Friday was in excess of the average. No very powerful draught horses were disposed of, but several active, strong horses changed hands at very satisfactory pries, and there remains an unsatisfied demand for good, upstanding young geldings for coaching purposes. We quote:—Hacks, from £5 10s to £l s ; light-harnci-s horses, fiom 611 to £22 fss ; medium draught, from £2B to £3O. There has been increased vitality in the beef market, and prices had a decided upward .tendency. Dairy stock remained unaltered in value, biit for store stock prices were not quite so firm, and for those displaying a want of care in breeding prices declined fnlly 10s per head. The supply of sheep has been good, and the demand spirited. Prices were higher than the previous week fully U per head. Lambs were in full supply, and ! sold at from 10s to 14s 9d.
