TUHIKARAMEA.

October 28. Our cricket team played against that of Whatawhata, on their ground, last Saturday. Play was to have began at 11 a.m., but, owing to the rain, tho hour of starting was postponed till 2 p.m. Tuhikaramea Avon the toss, and put the enemy in. Messrs E. B. Cox (captain) and Bodilly bowled splendidly, and disposed of tho Avhole eleven for the same number of runs, Avhich, with nine extras, brought their total up to twenty. The Tuhikaramea innings began unfortunately, three men having been put out in quick succession, but, a stand Avas made by Messrs Cox and Lang, who shewed some veiy pretty batting, and gave no chances. The innings closed for thirty-seven, which, with six extras, made the total forty-tree. The Whatawhata men then went again to thfl wickets. Four Avickcts were down for six runs, Avhen the rain put a stop to further play. It having been arranged that if there was not time for two innings, the first should decide the matter, the Tuhikaramea men won the match by twenty-three runs. The extremely good boAvling of Cracker Avas the noteworthy feature of the Whatawhata play. Mr H. Paton was umpire for Tuhikaramea, while Mr Moore acted in the same capacity for Whatawhata.
