[PRESS AGENCY". I AUCKLAND, last night. Mr. Errington, gave award m the arbitration case Blewden v. Morrin and City Council, arising oat of waterworks contract. He ordered £1760 to be paid by the City Council. £1400 had been tendered , £7000 was claimed. The Supreme Court was occupied all day with the case of Owen McGee v. McLaughlin, Russell, Morrin, and the Stewards of the Auckland Jockey Club. In the course of examination, Mr McGee said his winnings were from £1,400 to £1,500 a year, but his expenses were large. The case was not coucluded when the Court rose. GRAHAMSTOWN, Saturday. There was tall talk at the corner last night. It was suggested to burn Dv Pollen ia effigy for opposition to the Thainos Harbour Bill. Several sums were subscribed. ELLINGTON, last night. The session will not bo prorogued before Friday. NAPIER, Saturday. A case supposed to be small-pox, at the Spit has been exciting some alarm during the last few days. The child (a boy) afflicted with the disorder is under medical treatment for small-pox, but it is considered by his medical attendant to be of a mild type. Ona medical man, however, says it is not swiall-pox at all. The boy was vaccinated m 1875. WELLINGTON, Sunday. Several changes and reductions are to tike place m the Public Works Department at Auckland at the end of December. The Government has had its attention directed to the large staff employed m the Survey Department there, and, it is said, have resolved on reductions. Reports are also m circulation that some of the officers are employed on private surveys aud other works, which are not quite satisfactory to the Public Works Minsster. The Marquis of Normanby will be informed from .uowning-street this mail of the projected change of colonial Governors. He expects to be shifted, and will probably go to Melbourne. It is reported that some change will take place m the Cabinet after the session is over, but particulars are kept very quiet. Sir George Grey, it is believed, will go to the Kawau after the House rises to recruit his health. A little rest will do him a deal of good. PATEA, Saturday. Three roods four perches of Government land m Carlyle, auctioned to-day, fetched up to £10 17s per foot, being at the rate of £2600 per acre. Mr Stewart, of Wellington, bought two front sections; all the rest were local buyers. Two acres back sections realised £2741. DUNEDICT, Monday. Shearing is very baokward, aud the severe weather will have a bad effect on this year's clip. It is stated that the snow is far from being melted m the country districts, and that further floods may be looked for.
