RAGLAN.
A meeting of the mom hers of tli a Kaglan Cricket Club was ])eld on Saturday last, wheu the following gentletneu were elected a committee tor the current year : — Messrs Pearsou, Beresford, A.. Gilmoar, Ellis and Miedonald. Mr Uharlea CHlmour was re-elected Secretary and Treasurer, and Mr Bash Captain. It was resolved to play a match with the Whatuwhata Club at Whatawhata ou the Bth of November next, and if agreeable with the Ngaruawahia Cricketers to meet them on the following day at Ngaruawahia, possibly the latter club would consent to play a return game later m the season at Raglan. It is to be hoped the Ngarnawahians -will be able to acoomodate the Raglan Club as desired. The road over the mountain will be m wood order by that time, as uicst of the bridges will be renewed and the road made. The contractor for the bridges has already commenced work, and the road is progressing rapidly. The natives seem to be working well at the road. No rloubfc. the work on this road will be an incentive to the natives to seek similar employment m other parts of their country. A lew weeku ago there wera sa less tijan twu Hteamera here, one of whiyh the Lalla Rookh it was said would run regularly here once a fortnight. It is to bo hoped this vessel will run m accordance with the promise of the owners, and nofc m the irregular manner m which she did when trading here, some months since. Tho Twnv Baard have catted for fanciers for the ereotion of a pound with, the view of enforcing the depasturing clauses of the Auckland Waste Lands Act.
