AUCKLAND CATTLE MARKET.
MR. A. BUCKLAND'S WEEKLY REPORT. At the Haymarket, on Friday last, hides were m usual supply ; prices ranged between 2d and 2 Jd the lb ; calfskins, 2£-d and 3d ; sheepskins, at late values (fullwoolled, 4s ad to os ad each ; inferior, 2s 9d and upwards) ; lambskins, ls 2d to ls Gd each ; locks, 3id and 4W the lb. — At Drury, on Wednesday, dairy cows brought from £5 10s to £10 los— the greater number between £7 10s and £10 ; well-bred steers, two to three years old, £5 to £6 ; eighteen-month to two-year-old steers, £3 los to £5 ; yearlings, J. 3 to £3 15s; calves, 32s 6d to 02s 6d each ; fat cattle, 32s 6d the lOOlbs. — At Remuera to-day, there was no difference m the value of dairy cattle. Store cattle were m average number, and the improved prices obtained on Wednesday wero continued. Fat cattle were m moderate number, aud a slight advance m price was obtained for animals of small size and good qualitj r ; prices ranged from 25s to to 35s the lOOlbs. Store sheep were plentiful, and m better enquiry; prices for half-bred wethers, lis tv 1 Is ; ewes, 8s to lis each. Woll-fatted sheep were m less than usual number, and advanced slightly m price as the sale proceeded. Lambs were at good prices, and fairly supplied. Eat calves were scarce, and at extreme prices. PigH were m moderate number, and at late values — 2£d the lb, live weight. MESSRS HUNTER AND NOLAN S WEEKLY REPORT. Horses : Continued activity has characterised the market, and there still exists a good demand for those of a superior stamp. On Friday, a iargenumber were submitted by auction, and last week's prices were fully sustained; m many instances, an advance was given. We quote :— Hacks, from £6 to £17 10s; light-harness horses, £13 to £20; medium draught, £22 to £34 ; heavy draught, £35 to £41. — Cattle : The supply has scarcely been no large as on the previous week. Dairy and store stocks have maintained their value, but for fat beasts prices were barely maintained. There remains an unsatisfied demand for well-bred yearling heifers. We quote : — Grown steers, from £6 to £8 12s 6d ; eighteen-month to two-year-olds, from 90s to £5 os; dry cows, from 95s to £6 7s 6d ; eighteen-month to two-year-old heifers, from 77s 6d to £5 2s 6d ; calves, from 44s to 60s ; yearlings, from 60s to 80s ; dairy cows, from £6 to £10 10s ; beef, from 28s to 32s the lOOlbs. — Sheep : The supply is more than equal to the demand. Prices obtained: Best wethers, from 19s to 23s 6d; ewea, from las (Jd to 17s Gd. A good many lambs were penned, and sold at from 10s to 13s Gd.
