A boy and man have been stopped by natives on the mountain road between the new township of Sua.ford and Katemarae. The boy says the natives threatened to shoot him if he proceeded. The man, Stewart, says he was also obstructed by the nitives, and was afraid to go on, therefore he turned back. The explanations given of the affair here is that these natives may possibly be some of the parties out in search for Hiroki, and have warned the man and boy that the murderer was about, and would probably shoot them if they went on.

WELLINGTON, last night In the House, the Premier said that from enquiries the Government were satisfied that a strong feelim* prevailed amongst Government friends adverse to the Beer Duty and Joint Stock Companies Bill; therefore the Government had decided to withdraw them. The Government in a few days would make a statement to the House how they proposed to remedy the consequent embarrassment to finance. This couid not be done, however, until Johnstone's amendment, which had become the substantive motion was withdrawn, and he refused to withdarw it. A long and rather warm discussion ensued.
