• At the Haymarket, on Friday, hides were dull of sale, and showed a further aeciuio i«. price ; they rangnd from 2 : jd to 3£d the lb. sneepsklns were at late values, and varied m price with quality, bringing from 2s 8d to 5s 4d each; scoured locks, 5d to 7|d; scoured wool, lid to 12£ d per lb. — At the cattle fair, on Monday, stock were penned greatly m excess of the advertisement ; above 900 head were sold. The stock were generally m low condition, and of but a moderate quality of breeding, the bulls shown being very inferior ; prices ruled high, and there was brisk competition throughout the sale. Steers of from three to four years of age brought from £6 os to £8 12s 6d ; two to three - year - olds, from £4 10s to £6; eighteen-month-olds, £4 to £5; heifers, 20s per head less than steers ; calves, mixed sexes, from 42s to 60s each ; twelve-month-olds, 60s to 70s each.— At the Wairoa, on Wednesday, 42 head of cattle were yarded, and as many more were purchased privately. There was the usual attendance of buyers, and good prices were given. — At Remuera, on Thursday, few store cattle were yarded ; those were at late values. Dairy cows were m moderate number, and usual enquiry, varying from £7 to £11 each. Fat cattle were m full number : 120 head yarded. Prices were lower about 5s the lOOlbs, particularly for heavy cattle ; prices ranged from 35s to 40s the lOOlbs. Store sheep were numerous, with no improvement m value ; ewes, witk lambs at side, brought from 9s to 18s the couple. Jtf'at sheep were m full number, and of good quality. Sheep m their wool were 2s and 3s each lower m price than last week, and shorn sheep of good quality sold at 2d the lb ; m their wool, 3£d. Fat lambs were numerous, and brought from 8b to 15s each. Few fat pigs were yarded. Store pigs were at lower values than hitherto. MESSRS HUNTER AND NOLAN S WEEKLY REPORT. Cattle. — There has been a continuous improvement m the market. The supply has been good, and a brisk demand has existed. At N«wmarket, on iuesday, an unusually large number of storeß were yarded, and dairy and fat stock were m adequate numbers. There was a large attendance of buyers, and well-bred steers advanced m value, and other descriptions fully maintained last week's price. We quote beef from 38s to 44s per lOOlbs, dairy cows, from £7 10s t© £10 ; calves, i from 40s to 57s 6d ; yearlings, from £3 to £3 17s 6d ; two-year-old heifers, £4 to £4 17s 6d; two-year-old steers, from £4 los to £6 ; three-year-old steers, from £6 17s 6d to £2 ; dry cows, £5 10s to £6 ss. Sh«ep. — There was a very good muster at Newmarket, on Tuesday. Competition was spirited, and last week's prices were sustained. No stores were penned. Fat sheep ranged from 2s 8d to 3s per Blbs.
