The Public Works ■ Statement waa now before . them, . and, no doubt, all wonld have observed that the Cambridge branch line had either been inadvertantly overlooked, or purposely kept out. ' He saicl that as Cambridge was undoubtedly the largest producing district m or near the line, and if connected, would tend m a great measure to insure the financial success of the undertaking, hft therefore moved, " That m the opinion of this Council it is advisable to embody m the scheme of a railway connecting Hamilton with the Thames, a branch line to Cambridge, which branch will tap the most productive district near the line without adding materially to the cost, the distance being only about nine miles over a level country, and being an important feeder will tend greatly to make the whole line a reproductive work. Cr. Kirkwood added that for more than half the distance the line might be laid on the Cambridge road, Imown as the Tramway, it was two chains wide, and level as a bowling green. Cr.
