Activity has characterised the cattle market. A considerable number has been brought forward, and prices for all descriptions have ruled in favor of the vendor. At Newmarket, on Tuesday, fat beasts were in average number, and were generally in prime condition; consequently, they created the keenest competi tion, 40s per lOOlbs being freely given, and more could have been placed. The wet day bad a damaging effect on-the fair at Papakura as regards numbers, although a great many more were disposed of than those catalogued. Calves sold at from 38s to 47s 6d; yearlings, from 57s to 65s ; dry cows, 77s 6d to fc's los; eighteen-month-old steers, 77s 6d; two-year-old steers, 80s to £5 5s ; thrae-year-old steers, £5 10s to £6 10s. There was a good supply of sheep at Newmarket on Tuesday, 3s 4dper;Blb§ havingibeen given.
