Major Jacksan, Mr J R. Roche,' andjut;hers, shewing the desirability of having the Railway Tertmnos placed within the township. Major ; -Jackson addressed the meeting, and pointed out that it would be nioatadvfintageoas thaUhe termmous should be brought within the township, inasmuch asall the traffic comes from the opposite side of the township, and not from the direction iu which the station as at pie lent proposed,;will be situated He considered this so important, that it would pay the inhabitants to lay down a tramway, should &e terminus be placed as. at present proposed; He hoped, "that upon a proper representation' beiiig made * o, the Government they would be ind^! cejd . *? the "site, and place the station within the township. He hoped that the people, would pull .in.one direction, and lie instanced the mistake which had been perpetrated at Ngarpawahia and at Hamilton, by erecting stations away from the townships. Tlie Chairman asked the meeting whether anyone present considered that the terminus should be erected as at present proposed, at a distance of one mile from Te Awamutu.

No person having expressed himself in the affirmative, the Chairman said he should conclude that everyone was in favour of having the station brought within the Township.

Mi- Cunningham adverted to the absence from the meeting of the Chairman of the Rangiaohia Highway District, who at a recent erection us a mamber of that Bnard had undertaken to use his best endeavours to bring the station within tlie township, 1 whereas It appeared from the correspondence that he had actually striven to- keep the Terminus away from I'e Awamutu. The Chairman said he Understood that the Rangiaohia Highway had. decided not to interfere in the matter.

Much; dissatis r action was expressed at Mr Sloane's absence from the .meeting', especially as ; he hud placed himself (apparently without authority from the ratepayer <) in communication with Mi\ MclMiun and others and had, acted in direct opposition to the promise?! he hud made! when: elected tin the Highway Boavd. a few. weeks ago.. .. fi >, ;M> James .Henjderson. .(of Kiiiikihij'J- Edward Parsons (of Te audit was unanimously i*es6lved<'."..,? c Mr Hungerford Roche, (of Paterangij: proposed, and Mr Henry Lewis seconded, aud it was unanimously resolved, • Thatrthis meeting respectfully requests the. Government to send: an engineer to inspect the.locality, and to report as to the most fitting position for the Railway Terminus, with the view ;of rendering the most accommodation.; -to the public generally. .....; . ~,......

Major Jackson proposed, and Mr J. C. Storey 'seconded, and it was unanimously.. r.esp] ved, . That the folio-wing gentlemen be : appornted a'Committee, WitK, power to add to their number, to communicate the fore"goihg'resblntipns to the' Government and to Mr^McMmn,"M.H,R'., ; -risking them to -supply-' sueh assistance and' uiferination as they "may ; deem necessary Parsons, James Henderson,- G-resham, Andrew Kay, : J.P., Stephen : WestneyyW'. S. Rutherford, John Roche, C. J. Storey, and the mover —'Major Jackson.'

Mr P. Bond stated that by leaving, the terminus in its present, proposed site, some eight or nine residents along the Alexandra road-would be benefitted to the disadvantage and i inconvenience 1 of all the dwellers and storekeepers in the township, and also of every settler on the Rangiaohia and Kihikihi sides ', he concluded by moving, ' ■' : That the. Committee be empowered to. ask Mr. Sloane to supply them Avith all correspondence which has taken place, since the recent election of the Highway' Board, on the subject of the Railway Terminus, cither between himself and Vlr / MoMinu or between, himself and anyother person. i

Mr Weathmll seconded this motion and upon its being" put to the
