WAIKATO CATTLE MARKETS.
MONTHLY REPORT. Mr J. S. Buckland, at the Cambridge Yards, last month, disposed of all the cattle yarded, (only a small number) at satisfactory prices. A pen of long-wooled ewe hoggetts brought 14s each. — At Ohaupo, on August 13, about the average number of cattle ,were:brought -f,or,ward, and all -sold-afc the auction. The sale-opened with an advance of fully 10s per head on wellbred cattle, and the prices continued firm throughout the day. Dairy cows brought from £5 to £9 5s ; large-framed dry cows, £i to £6 ; heifers, £4 to £5 10s ; 12 to 18-months-old steers, £4 to £5 ; grown steers, £6 5s to £7 10s. A few fat catjt]^ brought 30sthe lOOlbs. Fat sheep brougHtj 3Jd per lb. — At the Cambridge horse salS,' last month, the market was very badly supplied. Medium draught or plough horses, being most wanted, brought high figures. Those sold were all light horses, and prices ranged from £5 to £16 each". '
