THE FOOT BALL MATCH.

AUCKLANE T. WAIKATO. This annual match which comes off to-day, was to have been played on Mr Claude's farm, but m consequence of the wetness of the ground, will take place m Mr Jolly's paddock, between the town belt and Harri,a Railway Station Hotel. The Aucklanders will arrive by the midday train, and will be run up to Hamilton for lunch, the gam commencing afc 2.30 p.m. c The local team will consist oi Griierson, Cooper, James Wood, E. B. Cox, Forbes, Mackintosh, Pan, Macfarlane, Coleman, C. C. Wood, N". Hunt, Lang, Nugent, Johnson, and Bond j Oonroy (emergency). They lie under the disadvantage of never having played together, and being considerably out of condition, so that the visiting team should have the best of it. With regard to the Auckland team yesterday's ' Herald ' says :t— Our Auckland Footballers are to play v. Waikato on Saturday. Our men have a good, though light team, and the " folowing-np " of such men as Bindon, Hears, Cotter, and Davy, with the backplay of Carter, will make the fifteen hard to beat. Odds are laid on the Auckland men, yet Waikato has E. Cox and J. Wood perhaps the best half-backs m the provincial district of Auckland. .At a meeting last night the following players were decided on as those who should represent Auckland : Messrs Bindon, Broadhurst, Carter, Coleman, Cooke, Cotter, H. Davy, Leopold, T. Henderson, Mears, Mita, Orchard, Reid, Ring, arid Shakespeare. The average weight of the team is about lOst. ll^lbs. The visitors will be entertained at a dinner m the evening, which will be held at the Hamilton Hotel, tiskets for admission to which by other than members of the Club, can be procured from Mr James Wood, or Mr Gwynne.
