UUANOINO OF STOCK UCLL. The Branding of Stock Bill abolishes all previous laws relatiug to the,subject. Brands shall include iron brands and other marks used to distinguish sheep, horses, cattle, or other stock, livery county shall be a district uuder the Act, and every borough situated iu such county shall be deemed parti of the county for' the purposes of the Act. The word " county " is interpreted to mt?m "every couuty wherein, thy
whole of tlie Counties Act, 187(3, is in \ force." There shall be appointed registrars of bruuds and registrars of fines for brands. Every register shall be open for inspection to any person paying a shilling. Every stock-owner must register his brand, and no such brand shall be registered for any other person. Using another brand subjects the offender to a penalty of £SO, and £IOO for defacing the brand mark on stock without authority. Brandiug of horses is not obligatory. SCAB IN SHEEP BILP. Below is an analysis of the new Sheep Bili: Clauses 19, 20, 21, 23, 24, 2'J, and 31 was suspended in the District of Auckland. Tarauaki, Wellington, Nelson, and Marlborough, until Ist January, 1881. But a majority of owners—not less that fiftymay petition the Governor to bring the Act into operation m any of these districts. 5. Former appointments and regulations are validated. 0. Governor may make appointments, regulations, &c. 7. Delivery noticer. 8. Districts and subdivisions. 9. Kuns ou boards of different districts determined by Government what districts it is in. Inspector of Sheep : 10. Inspectors of Sheep to be appointed. 11. False. reports of certificate by inspector. 12. Power of inspector to enter ou lands. 13. Penalty for obstructing inspector. " 14. may require declaration, 15. Lists of diseased flocks to be published monthly 10. Inspectors to have official brands. Rate on sheep. 17. Return of sheep to be furnished annually to inspectors. 18. Yearly rate be paid owner of sheep* All in possession of infected sheep. ID. Inspector shall give notice to owner of scabby sheep to clean same within six months, and owner, on conviction, liable to penalty, if sheep not clean, at expiration of three months thereafter. 20. Inspector may order infected sheep to be herded and yarded. 21. Owner having several flocks depasturing on same ruD, and one is infected, all removed must be dipped unless passed clean. 22. Owners of infected sheep to give notice of disease. 23. Scabby sheep to be branded S. 21. Infected sheep to be kept in enclosures, or shepherded. 25. Penalty of £SO for abandoning infected sheep. 20. Infected sheep in pound or public yards may be destroyed. 27. Penalty for removing scabs from infected. 28. Certificate not to be given uutil whole of sheep have been cleansed. 29. No slieep to be driven through any infected run without order having been obtained of certificate. Importation of Sheep: 30. Lauding sheep without certificate, or landing infected sheep. .31. Inspector's certificate under preceding section. 32. Penalty on master of vessl for allowing sheep to be landed without certificate. 33. Introducing by land diseased slieep, or introducing sheep without certificate. 34. Inspector's certificate under preceding section. 35. Places may by proclamation be appointed on the inland boundaries of districts at which all sheep may be iutro duced. 36. Sheep introduced by sea or land to be dressed within certain limits. 37. Sheep examined "for importation to be branded with the inspector's brand. 38. Introduction of sheep from one district to another. 39. Power of inspector to call for evidence corroborative of declaration made. 40. Penalty of refusal by persons in charge of sheep to give evidence. 11. Driving, &c, of infected slieep. 12. Infected sheep trespassing may be returned to owners; no infected slieep shall be , driven through country where sheep are olcuii. 43. Separate information tor every run, &c, crossed. 41.
