CAMBRIDGE TOWN BOARD.

The Annual Meeting to receive the report and balanca sheet for the year ending 30fch June, 1878, was held at the Town Board Offices on Monday last. A very large muster of ratepayers of the township were m attendance. Mr D. Richardson having been voted to the chair, read the advertisement convening the meeting, and then called upon Major Clare, Chairman of the outgoing Board of Trustees to give his report and balancesheet. The report was a brief veibil one, but the balance-sheet was as follows : — Cambridge North Township Highway District, abstract of Treasurer's balance-sheet for the year ending 30th June, 1878. Receipts : general ratps, .£137 9s 9J ; special contributions, £26 5s 10d ; cattle fees, £38 ; 'log fees, £10 10s; pound fees, £26 03 6d ; sale yard fees £24 17s ; wharf rents, £39 ; sundries, £3 8s 9d ; Government subsidy (ordinary) £122 7a 3d ; Government subsidy, (special on account,) £100; Bank overdraft on date of balance, £11 Us 6d. Total receipts, £544 12s. Expenditure, last years liabilities : — Bank overdraft 23rd July £47 os9d; tradesman's accounts, £125 13s 9d ; Roads -.—Works and material £284 17s 4d ; collections of rates and fees, £22 7s 6d. Salaries : Secretary, 9 months .£ll ss ; printing, advertising and stationery, £24 Gs 4d ; Bank interest on overdraft to 30th June, £10 15s 6cl ; miscellaneous, £18 5s lid. Total expenditure £544 12 s Id.— (Signed) WiLLiflT" Ci.are, Chairman arid Treasurer, N.T.H.D.B. Examined and found correct — F. J. Brooks, Wieliam Godfrey Collins, Auditors. . The balance-sheet was adopted by the unanimous vote of the meeting. The meeting then proceeded to elect trustees ft r the ensuing year. The following gentlemen were then proposed : — Majors Clare and Hay, Messrs. Robert Kirk wood, D. Richardson, J. T. Camp, E. Issacs, H. Asher, E. Hewitt, T. Geuiinill, aud John Arnold. A ballot was then taken, Messrs. H. M. C. Williuus, aud Hugh. Kirk wood being appointed scrutineers. This resulted iv the election of Mes r«j. Robert KirkwooJ, D. Richardson, and John Arnold, Majors Cla«.'e aud Hay, as the Trustees of the Town Board for the year 187879. Messrs. ¥. J. Brooks and Wu, Godfry Collins were appointed Auditors; aud Messrs. Geollausoe aud Peter Thompson, Fenceviewers. A vote of thauks to the outgoing BoarJ, the Chairuma aud the Committee, concluded the meeting, which had been uiuoh quieter than these meetings generally are m Cambridge, although nearly all the ratepayers came forward to vote, and considerable iterest was taken iv the election ; many bets, and several sweeps being indulged iv.
