THE NATIVE MINISTER AND TITOKUWARU.
Fhom the special telegraphic correspondence of the • Herald,' we learn that the Native Minister had a most satisfactory interview with Titokowaru on the oth inst. at Opunake, •r rather at Oca, to which place Tito came to meet him. The subject was the survey and sale of the Waimate plains, which had been confiscated, and the occupation of which by the Government the natives obstructed. Tito- [ Icowaru was given firmly to understand that the land was gone, and the i Government were determined to carry ; the confiscation into practical effect. • A short korero seems to have been fol- ] lowed by Titokowsru and his tribe : yielding to the necessities of the case ] with as good a grace as possible. 3 Ample reserves for the use of the na- 1 iives arc to be set aside. c
