Sir Tatton lead over the first fence, Cannonball, Stocknian, Mickey Free close astern, but Turk refusing went out of the race. Sir Tatton increased his le id, and opposite the stand Cannonball tell, Lun sustaining a fracture of the collarbone; At the jump entering the straight, Sir Tatton hung a little, enabling the others to close up. Sir Tatton lead over the last fence, but . fell. O'Brien was not much hurt, and quickly remqunted. In the meantime Stockman and Mickey Free went to the front. Stpckman won easily. Sir Tatton raced Mickey Free for second place, and beat by a length. Time: Gmin. -27sec. Mousetrap and Shark cut out the running; Shillelagh third, Te Whetu fourth. All the horses jumped well thro.ugliout. Mousetrap and Shark kept together till entering the third mile, when Mousetrap went to the front, Te Whetu closing up. At the bottom of the course Te Whetu and Shark o ver hailed Mousetrap. "± A fine race ensued upon the straight, and resulted in Te Whetu winning by half. a length from 'Shark, 'who beat Mousetrap by, f sever al lengths, Shillelagh was ', a good fourth; Don beaten off. < .:■•.. Moose made the running, 'Mousetrap . took the , lead at the second fence. All cleared the stone well in capital style, Everseley astonishing everyone by the steady way in which he took his, jumps.
