The Lancashire riots continue. The military force has been strengthened, but no collisions have as yet occurred. Negotiations are proceeding between Blackburn and other operatives, m regard to the strike. May 16. ■'-■ At the riots at Blackburn and Barnsley the military fired on the mob, wounding five ; mills were burned and windows smashed. The Australian Cricketers have .arrived; all well. .< An explosion at the powder mills m Paris, followed by an extensive fire, took place, and twenty persons were killed. Lord Russell is dangerously ill, and not expected to recover. At a meeting of employers, m Manchester, the arbitration refused the original terms insisted upon.
