The Bliindells, proprietors of the •Evening Post,' have, through their lawyers, called on Mr Gardner, of the ' Chronicle,' to apologia?, under a threat of an action for libol for insinuations impugning the genuineness of the special English telegram'} of the 'Post.' Mr Gardner refuses to apologisfc, and says he will abide the result — a 'writ for £1,000 damages, wliich will at once be issued. TnR Hamilton Bridge. — A very satisfactory telegram was received by the Mayor of Hamilton, on Saturday, from the Premier, Sir George Grey, m reference to the. bridge subsidy of 3,000. The Premier regrets the delay that has arisen, states that it has .been no iault of his, but from some mistake m the Public Works Department. It further states that he has telegraphed to Wellington to put the matter right. Business Ldts m Hamilton.— To-day Messrs J. D. & K. Hill will offer for sale two sections of allotment No. 80, Victoria Street, Hamilton, being the vacant space between the shops of Messrs Missen and McGarngle, and each having 30 feet frontage to Victoria Street.
