RESIDENT MAGISTRATES' COURT.
Hamilton, 20xa Apeil, 1878. (Before "W. N. Searaueke, Esii-, R.M.) Alfred Clune (a boy of 13 years) was charged with a breach of the Merchant Shipping Act. Sergeant McGovern stated that the boy was committed on the 6fch October 187G, at Cambridge, for three years to tbe Naval Training School, and about a month ago was transferred from tlio school to the S.S. Wanaka, as a duly indentured apprentice, aud went one trip South. Ou the steamers return to Auckland abont 11th insfc. the boy absconded and was approhended at Cambridge. The Sergeant asked that the boy be remanded to Auckland. Remanded accordingly. . i Hamilton 24th April. intUNKENNESS. Philip Brady pleaded guilty to the above ofl'encc. Sergeant McGovern said it was the Ist offence. Discharged on payment of costs. William Wallace was charged with deserting his wife and family, and leaving them without means of support since the year 1875. The Defendant did not appear m answer to the summons, and the Sergeant stated that he was at present m the Provincial District of Hawke's Bay. After taking evidence, bis Worship made an order that Wallace should pay £2 per month.
