PIGEON MATCH AT POKENO.
The pigeon match between MiBishop, of Auckland, and Mr Henderson, of Waikato, took place on Saturday at Pokeno. Tuere were three traps. Each competitor was allowed 20 birds. The r\se was 25 yards, and the boundary 80 yards, the points being 2 for killing with the first barrel aod 1 for the second. Both men used doublebarrelled inuzzle-loading guns of about the same calibre, each being, however, permitted to use what powder in quantity and quality thoy liked, but both had to use the same shot and the same quantity. Mr W. J. Marks was appointed umpire for Auckland, and the Waikato people appointed an umpire of their own — Mr Robert Wynyard being named referee. The match was brought to a close at 15 birds, for if Mr Henderson had scored every possible point after, and Mr Bishop had missed every bird, the former could not tie the Utter.
