Seotion 18— For the purj'oe of Com-l.-letiDg the uegotialioas now peudiDg for the purchase of certain Native L-.nds in the Nativo Laud District of tbe Thames, it is hereby enacted that a certain notice by the Q-over-nor, dated the fifteenth day of October, one thousand eight huntirfd and 8-venty-fuur, and published iu the Ntw Zealand Gazette under the provisions of the 42ad section of "The Immigration and Public Works Ac", 1871," shall continue in full operation and effect as to all lands affected by the said notice in respect of the purchaso of which' money has been paid on behalf of Her MaJ3Bty until the completion of the said purchase, aud whether such lands or any of thtftn were or were not passed through the Native Lands Court previous to the publication of the aforesaid notice. NOTICE OF INTENTION TO NEGOTIATE FOR THE PURCEASE OF CERTAIN NAfIVE LANDS IN THE PROVINCE OF AUCKLAND. (l s.) JAMea Ferguson, Governor. A PROCLAMATION. Whereas by "The Immigration and Public Works Act Amendment Act, 187)," the Governor is, among other things, empowered to enter into arrangements for tho acquisition of particular portions of land in the North Island, for tho purpose of mining for gold, for the establishment of special settlements, or for the purpose of railway construction : And by the said Act it is also provided that it shall be lawful for the Governor, * whenever he shall have determined to enter into negotiations' for the purchase of such land, to insert a notice in the NeiO Zealand Gazette that it is his intention to enter into such negotations, aud after such notice is inserled it shall not be lawful for anyone to pnrohase or acquire from the Native owners any right, title or interest, or contract for the purchase or acqußition from the Native owners of any rignti title, or interest, in the lands specified in such notice unless tbe notice be cancelled by the Governor: Provided that tf no such notice shall have longer operation than for the period of two yearp. Now, therefore, I, Sir James Furgusson, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance of the provisions of the hereinbefore in part recited Act. and exercise of the the power hereby vested in me, do hereby give notica that it is my intention forthwith to enter into negotiations for the purchase from the Native owneis of tbe block or parcel of lind situated in the province of Auckland, and described in the chedule hereto. SHEDULE. Commencing at Pukorokoro, on th© western shore of the Frith of the Thameß, hence by the eastern boundary of the lands comprising the District of Waikato, as taken under the "New Zealand Settlement Act," to the north-west angle of the Hangawera Block, theDC9 by the northern bouudary of Hangaweva Block, the western and northern boundaries of the Awaroa block, and the northern boundary of the Mangakahika Block to the River Piako ; thence by that river to the junction of the Waikarakeke Stream; thence by that stream to the Waihongi Block ; thence by the northern boundaries of the Waihongi and Kahia Blocks to the River Waitea ; thence by that river to the Uruhau Block ; thence by the eastern boundaries of the Uruhau and Matamata Blocks to the Wharetaugata Block ; thence by the northern boundary of tbe Wharctangata B'.ock to the Turangamoana Block ; thence by the western boundary of the Taurangamoana Block of the Biver Waihou, thence southward by tbat river to the janctiou of the Ora Stream j thfnce by a line due east to tho western boundary of the lands comprising the District of Tanranga a3 taken under the " New Zealand Settlement Act ;" tbence by the boundary to the summit of Te iroha Mountain ; thence by the northern boundary of the aforesaid District of Taaranga to the Nga-Kuri-a-Whare, on the coast of Bay of Plenty ; thence by the East Coast of the North Island of New Zsaand to Cape Colville ; thence by the shores of the Frith of Thame3, or Hanraki Gulf to the point of commencement at Pukorokoro aforesaid. Given under the hand of His Excel" lency the Eight Honourable Sir James Fer&usson, Barone*, a member of Her Majesty's Most Hoconrable Privy Council, Governor and Commander in-Chief in and over Her Mjosty's Colon}' of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admi-ral of the same ; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at Wellington, tLjis fifteenth dsy of Ootober, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy -four.
