PATEA, Tuesday. FURTHER INTELLIGENCE.
With regard to the natives who obstructed the surveys at Waitotara, Major Brown again met them at Ctirlyle, and late on Saturday terms were agreed upon, and an instalment of money paid. The Waitotara troubles being thus ended, the Manutahi and Mokoia natives, who for a long time had refused to forego their claim to land, also met Major Brown, and received the sum allotted to them, and were seemingly satisfied that further opposition would only place them m a worse position. The settlement of these two troublesome questions will materially and benefj** l -^ influence operations respec>*^g the Waimate plains, and Europeans are feeling more secure.
