RESIDENT MAGISTRATES' COURT.
Hamilton, March 19, 1878. (Before Dr. Waddington, J.P.) DRUNKENNESS. Alfred Angeers pleaded guilty to the above offence.—Fined 20s. and costs, or 48 hours imprisonment. William Fizpatrick pleaded guilty to a similar offence. —Fined 20s. and costs ; in default 48 hours imprisonment. Isaac Readding pleaded guilty to a similar charge.—Fined 20s. and costs; in default 48 hours imprisonment. March 20th. (Before W. N. Searancke, Esq., R.M.) - drunkenness. John Anderson pleaded guilty to the above offence. Sergeant McGovem said it was the prisoner's 6th offence;, fined 20s. and costs; in default 7 days imprisonment. John Dugan pleaded guilty to a similar charge. Sergeant McGovem said it was the prisoner's 3rd offence.—Fined 20s. and costs, or 7 days imprisonment. VAGRANCY. Patrick Smith and John Callaghan ■were charged with a breach of the Vagrant Act Amendment Act by shaving conducted themselves in a manner whereby a breach of the peace Avas occasioned. The prisoner Smith pleaded guilty, but Callaghan did not appear. Sergeant Mc Govern asked that a warrant might be issued for Callaghan's apprehension, as the case was a bad one, more particularly against Callaghan. Constable Haddack proved to the service of the summons, and a warrant was issued.—Smith was fined 255. and costs; in default 7 days imprisonment.
