PIAKO RACES.
There was a fair muster of Europeans and a lai'ge concourse Of Natives on the ground yesterday. The several races were well contested, and the affair altogether was very successful. The following were the results : — Hurdle Race. — Kate 1. Maiden Plate. — .Vf aster 1 ; Sattelite 2. A protest was entered j ■ against Master on the ground that he had previously won a stake of ! more than £5. j Piako Stakes. — Late m the Field, 1. The winner was afterwards sold to the Maoris for £70. Pony jdace. — Parawera 1. Consolation Stakes. — Little Dick, 1. The horse Count was Bold by Mr , Taylor to the Maoris for £30, I
