The firing- for the district prizes by the Hamilton contingent of the Te Awamutu Volunteer Cavalry took place at the butts, Hamilton, yesterday. ' In the absence of Lieutenant Win taker, Sergeant C Johnson had charge of the firing party. The day was not a good one for the purpose^ The light was bad and the wind blowing across the range. The ranges were, 200, 250, and 300 yards with an eight inch bull's . eye. The following were the scores : —
