THE BANQUET TO THE HON. JOHN SHEEHAN.

The banquet announced some time ago to be given to the Hon. John Sheehanby the sons of old colonists resident m Waikato will take place on Monday evening next, at the Commercial Hotel, Hamilton.

The notice is short, but necessarily so, as Mr Sheehan has just returned to Auckland from the south, and finds that for some time to come Monday night next is the only opportunity he has of being aAvay from Auckland for this purpose.

As the public are aware the banquet has no political significance, but is a purely social one, given by the sons of old colonists to the son of an old colonist, and the first colonial bom European m New Zealand who has attained a seat m the Cabinet of the colony.
