KIHIKIHI SCHOOL ELECTION.
March 5. At the a meeting- of the householders of the district, held m the School room on Saturday last, the following candidates were chosen and duly elected a committee for ensuing year, namely, Messrs Cowen, FarrelJ, Qual trough, Moncreiff, Eoss, Cor» boy, and Kay.
The new committee held their 1 first meeting- on Monday last at 5 p.m., when Mr A. Kay was elected chairman. The first subject of importance brought under consideration of the meeting, was the very unsatisfactory state of the school, caused by the general dissatisfaction given by the teacher, Mr Goertz. Ifc appeared that the late committee was constrained to report him to the Inspector, on his arrival here ou the 28th ulfc., bub the teacher defended himself by making excuses to Mr O'Sullivan, which were not considered the right thing. The heads of the families and parents therefore, withdrew their children from the school as an expression ot their opinion of the teacher. The committee then had no alternative pending the decision of the Board of Education but. to lock up the
school, to secure its property and furniture. — Own Correspondent.
