Robert Hill pleaded guilty to the the above offence. Seargent McGovern, for the sake of defendant's family, pleaded for a fine only. Fined 10s and costs, m default 48 hoars. ANOTHFR CONTRIBUTION TO [THE TOWN BOARD FUND. Sheblo Alix Danials, a colored man, pleaded guilty to a charge of furiously riding- a horse on the public road, m the Borough of Hamilton. The prisoner stated, that ho was urged on by others (o run a horse jraee with BilJy O'Neill, and that be

did not think there- was any harm m his doing so. Sergeant McGovern stated^*© beheved what the prisoner said was correct, and, that probably he was ignorant of the serious offence he was at the time committing. O'Neill would also appear before his Worship m a few days and answer the charge of horseracing on the public street.

His Worship said that after what had been stated he would deal leniently with the prisoner, and merely iufiicb a nominal fine of 10s and costs, or m default 48 hours imprisonment.
