THE ELECTION.
Sib, — a foolish report, industriously spread hy interested parties, so absurd it is hardly worth rebutting, only it is hard to say what some men may not he led to believe, is to the effect that Masonry is a pernicious clique studying only their own interests, often to the detriment of their fellow citizens. Now, sir, I am no Mason, know nothing of their rites and ceremonies, but wish to ask these parties and the electors they attempt to delude, can they recount one single instance that the Masonic body have used their influence perniciously. I have not heen many years m Hamiltrn, hut m this town the only association m my mind m connectionwith Masonry is that theyare a lot of good fellows who give a hall or dinner occasionally, and when they lose a t member hy death bury him with yiaore ceremony and respect to Vhis memory than other religious bodies. I make these i&n remarks, sir, hoping the electors of Hamilton will not he led away by any such nonsense, hut vote for good usefal men as Councillors irrespective of creed. —I am youra, &o M Lookeb On.
