THE NEW BOROUGH.
Sir, —There is one feature in the creation of the two townships of Hamilton into a borough which does not appear to have met the attention it deserves. I allude to the fact that the two Town Boards are now going into partnership, and those most interested in the matter—the ratepayers know litjtle or nothing of the. financial state of either Board. At the present juncture, it would be most satisfactory that they should be informed on these matters, and I would therefore suggest that the Chairman of the Hamilton West 3oard and the Chairman of the Hamilton East Board publish a balance sheet of the assets and liabilities of their respective Boards for general information. Trusting you will find room for this suggestion,—! am, etc., Ratepayer. [We quite agree with the desirability of the act suggested by our correspondent, and will willingly place, free of chargo, the space necessary for this purpose, in our issue of Saturday next, at the disposal of the Chairmen of the two Boards. —Ed. W.T.]
