(8T STBFBKN SUfiBBTt.) My Mother! o^nat thoußeetiaenow, From the far-off fields of light? Canst thou, m spirit, come again, And bless me -with the sight P Oh ! I can see thee when these eyes Are closed m balmy sleep ; And, revelling m happy dreams, We sweet communion keep. Yean, years have passed, and life to me Has been but as a dream, . Yet often have I yearned for the* As sailing down life's stream. Fond memory brings thee back again» . An thou wert once to me, When neetled m thy arms I lay, Or crept upon thy knee. And when I saw'thee m that sleep, From which there is no waking, And felt as I then on thee gazed, * My very heart was breaking. Oh, can it be that m that land Where there is no mote pain, We may once more united .be, V 1 Never to part again ? And shall we meet as we hate met, And be as we have been ; And shall I see thee«n me smtto, As I have sometimes seen ?
