Mr. Alfred Buokland's annual sheep fair was commenced on Friday, at the Remuera Yards. Fully 10,600 ewes and laniibs were yarded, and,' though many had travelled long distances, all appeared m good condition, while the fleeces, as a ' rule, were of fair quality. Worthy of rial mention were the animals from flocks of Mr William Eerr, Messrs. Buttle Brothers, Mr Joseph May, Mr J. Barr Brown, Joseph Soott, and A. S. Graham, not only tor their flue, well-fed appearance,- but for the cleanly condition and for the quantity and texture of their wool. The weather was propitious, and the attendance of bidders very encouraging. f The' opmpe^ition was satisfactory from the. beginning.'of the sale, : andiin a few instances became keen. The ma» jority of the lots put up were quitted at prices showing an advando upon those obtained at Messrs. Hunter and Nolan's fair on the previous day, but m some cases the owner's reserve wa« not attained, and. numbers of pens were thus paased. Mr J. S. Macfarlane bought largely as did also Mr R. Bent, Mr Cameron, Mr John Johns, and Mr R. Badley. while the chief vendors were Mr A. S. Graham, Mr C. C. Wood, Mr M. MoLaughlin, Mr A. Clements, and Mr J. B/Hay.' MrDornwell was the only butcher who bought. •
