There was a marked improvement m hofch supply and demand of cattle. At Newmarket above an average number were penned, and. an improved rate ruled. — At Papakura, on Wednesday, there was a very large muster of . stock, and higher prices were obtained than at Newmarket. Fat beasts advanced considerably m price ; top sorts realised 325. per lOOlbs., and well-fatted oxen from 28s. to 30s. per lOOlbs. — We quote t— J}airy. cows from £7 to £10 6b.; weaned calves, £1 ss. to £2 65.; yearling steers, £2 12s. to £3 10s.; two-year-old heifers, £4 2s. 6d. to £6 ; three-year-old heifers, £5 to £6 ss.— Sheep have been plentiful, and m steady" demand. Fat 'sheep sold at barely last week's prioes.— Stores were m limited supply and fair demand.— Best fat wethers sold from 15s. to 17s, 3d.; mixed sheep from 12s. 9d. to Us. each.— Lambs sojd weU, considering the quality, which was not good; prices ranged from 6s. to 11s.
