Waikato Times Office, Monday evening. THE CATTLE FAIR. Pursuant to notice, a cattle fair was held at Mr A Buckland's yards, Remuera, on Saturday afternoon, and was vry well attended. Mr J. S. Buckland offi iaied as aucibneer in the absence of hi* fata r 1120 animals were yarded, comprUin.; 500 2, 3, and 4-year o d steers, ~0 cows an i haifers, 300 yearlings (priucip.lly steers), and 2J well-bred y.ung bulls. Tue beasts appeared to be of fair quality, were in good condition, and w>re quitted at satis factory prices. The bidding at no period of the tale was what reignt be termed spirited, and yet it was not sluggish. A number of lota were parked, the reserve put ou them not being reached, but the number in proportion to that sold was bat small. Two pure-bred shorthorn bulls —Argus and Somerset —belonging to Maclean and Co, and which had secured Ist and 2nd prizes respectively at the previous day's Show, were offered, but the only bid being SO guineas, they were passed Prices Ringed from 55s to £S 5a for two, three, and four-year-old steers ; Irom £5 to £8 15s for grown steers ; from 5, r s 6d to 98s for heifers ; from 42s 6d to £7 5s for cows ; from £4os to 74s for yearlings ; and from £5 10s to £8 15s for yearling bulls.
