Parliamentary.

[From our Special Correspondent.]

Government Bqildings, Wellington, last night, 7.30 p.m. THE WELLINGTON POLITICAL HOTCHPOTCH. The present position of affairs is most extraordinary. The Privilege Committee on Saturday' night, with five dissentents, resolved that the' Governor's conduct m referring to a pending debate was a breach of privilege of. parliament. This opinion was embodied m the report bronght up to-day by Mr Traveray who moved "that the House concur m it, and that it be embodied and addreS3ed to the Governor." In doing this, he treated the Governor's action as quite unconstitutional. This was carried on a division of 33 to 19, without debate. The House then went on with the want of confidence motion, Humlin and Tole speaking strongly m favor of the Government. Mr VV. Wood then moved an adjournment, on the ground that until the Governor's reply regarding the privilege question was received, no business should be done. Mr Rees, m supporting this, said, " If the Governor continued to defy the House, Ministers, in defence of its piivileges had no other course . but resign." After some discussion the House rose till 2.30. It is by no means improbable that if as he certainly will theGpyernormaintains he was right, Ministers being supported bp such a large majority on this question will refuse any lon^efc to advise the Governor, and tender their resignations, but nothing is, yet known positively^ The^ result i of the want of confidence motion, m j any event, is not likely be finished to-night. 8 p.m. The Governor's message has been received. He acknowledges the receipt of an address from the House re privilege, and continues thus :— " The Governor begs to inform the j t House that he has handed the message to his Constitutional ad- 1 visei's, and tha,t so soon as he has received the advice of his Ministers, he will forward his reply to the House of Representatives."
