After vaiuly" endeavouring to get the Governor to grant a dissolution, Ministers have just resigned, ad. vising that Mr Laraach be sent for. It is understood he will advise the Governor, to cbmniuuicate, wirh Sir William Fitzherbert. :"'■ T; : : -.lasfcjnight, ~., THE NEW CABfNfe

After consultation with the Committees of Sir George Grey'sl party and the middle'party, Mr Larnaou has informed the Governor that; he will Ifbrm a ifiinistry,, '- the n*mes to- norrow. There are difficultiesajboutSir W. It is not improbable Sir George Grey will be Premier.. Efforts uade to produce disaensions between Grey and thejmiddje; party have utterly failed. ' Both are working unanimously. Grey, .Stout, and Reader Wood form a.sub-com-mittee of the one, and Montgomery; Evans, Brown,, rhomspn v and Gisborne of the . other. Tbeyj have been sitting nearly all -day, in connection with Mr Larnucn. He saw the Governor this afternoon, and stated he would be prepared to-morrow to submit the Tiaraes of, a new ministry. Mr liarnach will not' himself the Premeirship, and does not J desire to take any' office, but will hold a portfolio if necessary. Tue selection of the new ministry will to a great extent left him. There seems some hitch about Fitzherbert for Premier, and the choice is said now to rest between Grey and Rolliston. The uew ministry will try and close the 'session as'» soon as only taking up absolutely necessary work. One.feature is, theyintend toreduce imiuisterial salaries, so. that nonobjection can be taken to retrenchment in other quarters. The whole party pledge themselves till the end'of the session, to support whoever Mr Larnach puts in, and a number of the other side say they will give a general sapport to bring the session to an end; ' The outgoing Ministers are working hard clearing oif departmental arrears. • ;!
