A serious affair occurred at - Sparrow and Oo.!s foundry, i whereby a boy named, Yalentine Morton, aged 15, was severely wounded. He was engaged heating an iron, when one of his males, Stewart .Newton, interfered, and waß told' to 1 mhjd his own business. A quarrel arose. Newton having fallen on his back,went away, and returned three !or four minutes aiterwards, saying, u I will make you pay for the way you pushed niea little while ago." He. then picked up a piece of iron, and was about to throw it at; Morton, when the latter rushed at him, and knocked the iron out of his hand. They had another, struggle, when Kewton commenced to use his : pocket-kniie, wiih which he stabbed Morton in several placeß on the lelt kg and left side. The\ knife was taken Irom Newton, and Mortoh was rt&ibved to«he ! Hospital. Dr Uighe expressed his belief that the, cut on JUorton's side was of a very serious character, the knife haying entered the body two inches in an upwaid direction, between two of the ribs. Morton was apprehended on warrant.
