Auckland, last light. The Telegraph has been down south of Taranaki all day. The glass is falling in Auckland, and heavy weather is evidently brewing. Owing to the infceruption to the telegraph wires there is no Southern or war news. Produce sales to-day : Fowls, Is to 3s ; brahmas, 2s 4d to 2 .8d ; carrots 2s 6d to 3a 4 ; provincial potatoes 3s 6d to 4s ; fresh butter, lOd to Is 2d ; bacon and hams, 6d to 9d ; chese 6d. An exciting scene ocurred at the wharf to-day. Mr Donaldson working on one of the piles, fell into the water. He was unable to swim and his fellow workman; named Smith jumped in to his rescue. Donaldson clutched hold of him, and both sank, and would probably have been drowned only that another spectator, named Somervelle, a powerful swimer, dived, and brought both* men to the surface. Whangarei, last night. A large number of natives are attending the Natives Lands Court. A burglary was perpetrated at Cafflers store. There is no clue to the thieves.
