The following (if reliable) imporrant cable despach has been received from the London special correspondent of the 'Star.' LONDON. Tuesday evening. Plevna has fallen. The Russians, after an unequalled artillery engagement, lasting several days, closed in on Osman Pasha's army, totally defeating it. The Turks occupied a series of strongly entrenched positions covering the front and sides of the town in horseshoe shape. Heavy fightingoccurred last week on the East, the Turks attacking the Russian position, and repeatedly driving them out of their entrenchments, the Russians, reinforced, recapturing them and forcing the Turks back. The- losses amounted to 6,000 killed and several thousands wounded. The Russians then opened a withering fire for several days on Turkish works, with destructive effeeb, gradually advancing their batteries, and forcing the Turks back on the town. A simultaneous attack was then made on three sides ; the Russians closing in, and totally routing the Turks, and capturing thousands of prisoners.
