ABANDONMENT OF KIHIKIHI.
The following correspondence has been handed to us for public information. : Te Awamutu, August 22nd. Telegram : From W. Sloane, to .sir George Grey. K.0.8., M.H.R, Wellington : Sir,— As Chairman of the Committee appointed at the recent meet-ing, I would urgently solicit your influence in bringing the defenceless oondition of this portion of the frontier under the immediate con* sideration of the House of JJopresentatives. 1 refer you to a correct; report; of our meeting in Monday's issue of the Wellington 'Argus.' Eeply from Sir George Grey, 25fch August, to W. Sloaae. "I will do what I caa towards your defenceless condition." Telegram from W. Sloane to Sir George Grey, August 26th. " Sir, fearing that memorial will not reach you in time, I have thought it advisable to request that you be good enough to call for correspondence between Government aud Officer Commanding district re establishing head quarters at Kihikihi, and why order was countermanded ; also, correspondence between Government and Chairman of the Raugiaohia Highway Distriofc Board, aa to abandonment of Kihikihi." Telegram from Sir George Grey to W. Sloane, August 28th. "IE correspon. dence is not laid on the table tomorrow. I will request it." Telegram from Sir George Grey to W. Sloane, August 3Otb. "Notice is given that correspondence will be moved for to-morrow."
