Zealand thorough-bred stud horses has, says the " Herald," been made m the importation of a fiuerlooking black horse, named Javelin, for Mr McLoan, of Hawke's Bay. The horse was landed from the s.s Hero' m excellent condition, and during Saturday he was generally ad mired by numerous visitois to iSomervillo'a stabler, -Queen-street, where he was accommodated with a loose box until opportunity offers for sending him to Napier. Javelin, is a tine dark brown — almost black — horse by Yattendoa oft 6 of Lilla. The latter was a brown mare bred by Lee, at Woodland, Bathurst. She was gob by Now Chum out of Jfiva, by Young Marquis out of the imported mare Logs. Javelin was foaled m 1858,' and is consequently nearly 10 years of age. He competed m many races m New South Wales, but with inconsiderable success, for he was invaribly placed m warm company. Javelin with 9at lOlbs up ran fourth for tv« Tattersall Club Cup of £500 m January, 1876.
