Auckland, last night. At the Board of Education, application for an adult female teacher, for Hamilton West, was read, and a number ot complaints against the action of the principal teacher, for closing the school on the afternoon of the day of the Auckland and Punedin Football Match at Ellerslie. One letter stated that the school was closed at. balf-past three, instead of four o'clock. Another gpmiuunication suggested that the Master should b,fl subjected to instant dismissal for such flagrant dereliction of duty. The matter is to be inquired into. A brutal offence was charged
against William White, a carpenter, to-day, of violating a girl twelve years old, the daughter or Mr Carr shoemaker. The evidence showed that the girl was staying at the house where prisoner lodged. He was committed for trial. Alburnias declined to £5. : -. - -. ♦■
