At the meeting held at. the National Hotel on Tuesday, August 21st, there were present: Messrs E Maclean President, in the chair), H Reynolds, Brooks, Gane, Campbell, P Walker, W Martyn, Hicks, Parker, Lake, J Runcimau, R Reynolds, G Clark, H Butile, Fantham, E B Walker, Allwili, J Martyn, Maior Wilson. * ' Tue minutes of the previous meeting were read aud confirmed ; also those of a special meeting lor Ihe opening of the tenders for m.t'nure.. A ■•- CORRESPONDENCE; .^Tlie Secretary thettVread a letter from Mr. W J Marks of C-iapel street, Auckland, reco\nmonding his patent windmills and pumps (the*, former being made of iron and the latter of brass) for oattle watering purposes.— Laid on tho table. Mr Henry Reynolds then read his essay on TREE PLANTING, but owing to the fact that it occupies over three columns of our space, we h.ive decided. to hold it over with the disoussion which followed until Saturday, so as to give the report of the Club proceedings to-day. NOTICES OF MOTION, ETC. Mr Clark gave notiee, - That he would at the next meeting, read an Essay on Manures.' The names of the following gentlemen, to be proposed at the next meeting, had beeu submitted to the committee, and approved : i Messrs C 0 Wood, Wm Macgregor Hay, Major Clare, and Captain Macpherson. Mr Fantham gave notice, 'That, at next meeting, he would move that a subcommittee be appointed to arrange about freight to and _.oui Auokland. Mr James Runciman said, his brother beingagain unavoidably absent, he would give notice on his behalf; ' That, at next mdeting, he would bring on his motion about Artesian Weils.' N Mr. Fantham said, summer was -""I*"-)*---proaching, and some of tbe farmers would be wanting water, so, the matter should not be put off much bnger. Mr E B Walker stated he had all the necessary apparatus for boring Artesian Wells, and would be glad to lend them to any Member of the Club who might Wish to try them. The President then drew attention to a card, onjthe table, of a Veterinary Surgeon now in the township, who waa going to look at one of his horses. Mr Mux Schmiedel, he believed him to be a clever man, and if any Member of the Club wanted his services, he believed he would be available. Mr S P Campbell asked if members of the Club residing in the Piako District could avail themselves of the advauta^e of getting manures at reduced rate--, by makmg fresh arrangements to get them up the Piako or Thames rivers. The Secretary, in reply, said that if they made their own arrangement, as to freight, he thought the con ractor would be willing to supply them at the same rate. This was all the business.
