It was also resolved on 'the motion of Mr Brookß, * That a committee be appointed consisting of, 1 Major Okre, Captain Runciman, Messrs John Kunoiman, Parker, Rose, Houghton, John flally, John Fisher, aud the mover, having power to obtain plans, enter into contracts, raise subscriptions, and carry out the work, five to form a quoruj£«l/ It was also resolved, on motion ouhK seconded, 'That after erection of tb*P Hall it be placed in charge of a standing^ oommittee representing Town, Conn try, and Cavalry interests, such committee to be elected at a further public meeting to be duly convened.' After the proceedings with regard to the Public Hall had terminated, Mr Houghton introduced to the meeting the snbject of the want of a resident medical gentleman in the district, some desultory eonveraation followed, but there was not any action taken, and a vote of thanks to the chair concluded the business. Immediately after the public meeting had' closed, the Oommittee assembled. Major Clare was elected to be Chairman, and Mr Brooks accepted the office of decretory. It . was considered by the Committee that a shell building of good ' exterior appearance, and with some little interior accommodation might be erected for £300 or £350. Aiming at these figures, therefore, each member was supplied .with a copy of the subscrip iou list, and with power to add to his number, and it was agreed to hold a second meeting on that day fortnight, that is to say, on the evening of Saturday, the Ist of September, when each is to pioduoe and count his bag. In the mean time, tha Secretary is to procure plans framed upon the estimated limit. The outcome of that second meeting will show the obaraut. r and value of Cambridge spunk, wWher it possesses heart enough to gut up aceaiu, or is but rotten enougu 10 go otf in smoke. — From, a Corrkpondbnt.
