The Body of Charles Rowley Found.
O*N Thursday*, at eleven o'clock, as Mr Thomas Gibbons, jpf Abercrpmbie-street, was fishing at the new. Railway AYlistrf he observed t a dead body rise tp the f surface of the water., , ft'fr ,. Gibbons says he first caught sight pf thehedd bobbjpg Up, caused by the swelling of the waves from a passing steamer. He shouted to Coombes and Fox, who were going to the Queen-street Wharf m the Mafceppa's boat. They at once went to the Water Police Station, and returned with Sergeant, Martin. In the meantime Mr Gibbons had secured the 'body with a fishing*, jag and line. , The body was then conveyed to the dead-house. It has since been seen by several persons who knew the unfortunate man, who was -missing, and supposed /to be drowned on the evening of the. 14th inst., but they failed to recognise the .features, owiug to decomposition. A reporter of the " Herald," however, identified the clothes, and had no doubt but the body was! that of Charles Rowley. One shilling was found m the pocket of deceased.
