PROPOSED TOWN HALL FOR HAMILTON.

A. largely attended meeting was held in the Court House, Hamilton, on Tuesday evening with the object of memorialising the Government to grant the large building in the barracks, at Hamilton, originally built for a hospital for the 4th Waikato Regiment, and more recently used by the Armed Constabulary as a barrack room, for the purpose of a Public Hall for the district. Mr Vialou occupied the chair, and the original proposal, that the Hall, when obtained, should be' applied to the use of the people of Hamilton West, having been altered so as to embrace the residents of the Hamilton country districts as well, the resolutions which appear in the memorial below were severally put to the meetiug, and carried unanimously. After the meeting was over, the committee met,, and drew up the following memorial which was forwarded by yesterday's post to the Defence Minister : —

Hamilton, 21st June, 1877. SlB, — We have the honor to inform you that, at a large aud influential meeting held tbis eveumg, the following re.olu tions were passed, viz.:

' We have the honor to ask for your favorable consideration of the wishes of the m.inoral sss, and to assure you that, if the arrangements of the Government will permit of their aoceeding to the request contained in the resolution, a great boon will be conferred ou tne innabitauts of the district of Hamilton.
